As we age, we tend to become more and more concerned about how our skin looks. With the passing of time, it’s common to get wrinkles, fine lines and age spots. Fitzpatrick also says that a moisturizer that contains ingredients like shea butter or glycerin are essential if you spend a lot of time outside. These ingredients make it easier for the skin to heal itself after you’ve been exposed to UV rays. You should also cover your face with a wide-brimmed hat or an umbrella so you won’t have direct contact with the sun. If you know you’ll be outside for more than an hour, choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or more and apply coconut oil or aloe vera after coming in from the sun to keep your skin from developing sunburn and to keep your skin tone even. Make sure that you’re also applying sunscreen during the fall and winter months of the year, since the sun is still shining even though the weather is cooler. 

Stay Hydrated 

A gallon of water a day can do wonders for your skin and keep you free of wrinkles. If you’re not a fan of drinking water and want to make sure that you’re staying hydrated, add a few slices of grapefruit or oranges to add flavor to the water and provide your body with more vitamin C. This helps to brighten your skin while helping you fight the signs of aging. If you want to plump the skin around your eyes, add some cucumber slices to your water and a sprig of mint to calm the skin and improve digestion. 

Get More Collagen

You’ll likely start to lose collagen as you get older, so taking collagen supplements before eating in the mornings can help to firm the skin and can even prevent breakouts. You can also get more collagen by drinking bone broth or adding the broth to your favorite dishes for more nutrition and flavor. After you bathe or shower, replace the moisture in your skin right away with a soothing oil like jojoba or avocado.
