Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 4.5

You know when a product is so well-loved in the beauty community that you just have to get your hands on it? I've wanted to try this foundation for ages, but I couldn't justify the $64 price tag for a foundation, so I just filed this under my Bitch, You Can't Afford That list, then promptly forgot about it.

Last September, I finally managed to finish up my RMK Gel Creamy Foundation, so I was on a hunt for a foundation to replace it. I was in Hong Kong, and was in Bonjour when I saw that they were selling the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation for only 380HKD (roughly ~$48)

Obviously still too much for a foundation, but I justified it by telling myself that my HG (Dior Nude Air Serum) costs pretty much the same, so I bought it :P (THIS IS WHY I CAN'T SAVE MONEY!!!!)

I thought I guessed my shade correctly, but apparently I didn't hahaha 4.5 is best suited for NC20-25 - which is a shade too light for me. I read somewhere that shade numbers that end in .5/.75 are yellow-toned, but as you can see above, it's definitely more neutral than yellow.

(On the other hand, Dior has a great shade range for yellow undertone! Can you tell I'm a huge fan of Dior foundations? Hahaha too biased?)

(I know it looks like a nice shade match for me, too; but in real life, you can definitely tell it doesn't match me!)

It's a very beautiful foundation, but it takes soooo much for me to be blown away by a foundation these days, and sadly, I wasn't very impressed with this one.

As I said on my IG post, I like the GA Luminous Silk, but it's only "okay" for me. I didn't find anything revolutionary or special about it. It's not luminous on me at all, it dries down MATTE. I mean, I like matte foundations, but I felt sort of duped because I was looking forward to using a more glowy foundation.

My main gripe about this foundation is that it's STICKY. Even after applying powder, it's still very, very sticky. Kind of like wearing a bad sunscreen. :( It doesn't go away, ever. So annoying.

It looks GREAT on photos though! This is probably the most photo-friendly foundation I've ever used, and your best best to wear on events (and even your wedding! I know so many people who have used this on their big day!).

This foundation is probably best suited for people who has perfect skin (or has minimal skin problems). Sadly, it's just not for me. Ah well... I guess I just have to buy another foundation, eh? ;)
