*Althea Petal Velvet Powder

So, here it is, the super delayed blog post about Althea's first ever product! The Althea Petal Velvet Powder (P210 only!). I really wanted to test it out thoroughly before I write a review about it, and it's finally here lol.

First of, I love the packaging. Unlike other korean road shop brand loose powder, the Althea Petal Velvet Powder is housed in a fancy glass packaging. It's not really heavy, but it has some heft to it. The millennial pink color of the packaging really grabs your attention, which I thought was pretty great considering how "in" the shade is nowadays.

The powder itself is verrrrry silky to the touch. The powder was very smooth, and glides on your face really well. It's also does not clump so dispensing it was easy (*ahem Innisfree No Sebum Blur Powder).

Again, comparing it to other popular road shop brands, the powder itself does NOT feel like cornstarch (*ahem Etude House Zero Sebum Powder), it actually feels like a proper, high-end powder. At a fraction of the price!

But okay, I'll be honest, I'm not too fond of the smell. It smells like the stereotypical lola (grandmother). It literally smells like potpourri! It smells very heady to the point that I don't breathe when I apply it on my face hahaha It does go away easily, though, so..

after 1 hour of application

after 5 hours

But does it live up to its claim that it would help control oil/sebum? Y E S. My HG powder forever (despite its clumpiness) is the Innisfree No Sebum Blur Powder, and this is very comparable to that. It's cheaper, too!

Here's how I apply this powder:

1. Sunblock (I used Sunbum's)
2. Moisturizer
3. Set it with the Althea Petal Velvet Powder
4. Foundation
5. Set it again with the Althea Petal Velvet Powder
6. Rest of my makeup

As you can see in the photos, even after 5 hours of wear in the sweltering heat, my makeup has stayed intact! Notice that my face looks more natural after 5 hours, too. Haha it mixed really well with my natural oil, so it made my face less flat looking.

I have not tried taking a photo with the flash on, so I'm not sure if there's going to be a flashback when you wear this powder. I did notice that it made my face look whiter than usual even in just natural lighting, so that's something that you want to keep note of if you use this powder. Great oil control but probably has flashback. It's great for everyday use, though! And for the price, it's totally worth trying!
