The Empties # 4

I'm a sucker for liquid foundations; sue me.

1. L'oreal Lucent Magique - I liked this back when I first tried it, but now that I've thought about it, this foundation was actually pretty shitty. Not going to lie, my standards were pretty low before lol. The finish of the Lucent Magique was just not... nice. It's not flattering-dewy, it's just wet, and it felt like it's never going to set until you powder the crap out of your face. The shade range is quite good, I'll give it that, at least.

I really can't believe I liked this before!!!!!!

Not cruelty-free (CF); will not repurchase.

2. L'oreal True Match Foundation - On the other hand, this foundation was heaps better than the Lucent Magique. Great shade range, nice finish, good oil-control/longevity. I've actually converted both my Mom & my sister to this foundation! They used to use MAC Studio Sculpt, but I made them try this, and they've never looked back. No joke, I think they're on their 3rd bottle already.

Bonus: This foundation is usually on sale! My Mom got a few bottles when this was on sale at 50% off — P300 only!

Not CF; will not repurchase.

3. Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation - This foundation was beautiful not just on my skin, but also on camera!! Still the best foundation to use if you're going to be in front of the camera, imo. My skin's far from perfect, but whenever I used this foundation, my skin instantly looks 1000x smoother and clearer — it's absolutely baffling. They have repackaged this last year, but if I'm not mistaken, the formula is still the same.

The thing is, LM is not cruelty free. Their statements regarding the issue were pretty dodgy, so I guess I won't be buying anything from them until they sort out where they stand.

Not CF; will not repurchase.

4. Jouer Matte Moisture Tint - I loved this tint, and I'm going to be honest, I've used it way past its expiration date (as in even after 6 months of it expiring). I liked this tinted moisturizer that much. It's just so light on the skin, and such an easy thing to apply. You don't even need to use a brush for this. I didn't need to worry about streaks even if I just used my fingers to apply it. Where else can you find a matte tinted moisturizer?

CF; but will not repurchase.

5. Burberry Sheer Foundation - My first high-end foundation, and probably "the one that launched a thousand ships" so to speak. For so long, I became such a foundation snob because of this foundation hahaha Only to realized years later that drugstore foundations can also be great — you just need to research before you buy!

This is already discontinued, so no point talking about it anymore.

Not CF; discontinued.

6. Dior Nude Air Serum - I loved this. I had it in the shade 030, which fitted me just fine if a tad bit too dark and neutral on my yellow skin. I tried the 21 Linen, but it was too light. This foundation had medium coverage at most, but even after applying 2 layers, it would still look like your natural skin! Honestly, this foundation was like magic on my skin. Absolutely great, and definitely was worth my money.

I've actually stood in front of a Dior counter for soooo long (mga 30 minutes, no exaggerating), debating whether to repurchase this or not. In the end, I settled for Becca Ultimate Complexion Creme (CF).

Not CF; will not repurchase.

Since I'm on a matte/full coverage kick, I'm eyeing the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo (CF) or the Dior Forever next. Yes, Dior is not cruelty-free. 😭  But we'll see 🤗

Have you emptied any products lately?

  1. Does that LM foundie hold up well against oily skin and humidity?
