My sister went to Japan last March for a school trip, and I took the liberty to give her a list of things that she should buy for me. :P Most were japanese drugstore skincare, but I did ask her to get me one makeup item. A liquid foundation. I had 4 liquid foundation on the list: RMK Creamy Gel Foundation, Lunasol Modeling Water Liquid Foundation, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Liquid Foundation.
I told her that I wanted the first two the most.. but since she wasn't familiar with both brands, she ended up getting me the third one on the list hahaha oh well.
The Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in B30 costs $48 (not sure how much in Yen), and contains 30ml of product. It has a no-nonsense packaging which I like: sturdy and compact plastic bottle with a nozzle - perfect to take with you when you travel.
This is a water-based foundation, so you have to shake this really hard lest it separates when you pour it out. Once I thought I've shook it hard enough only to find out that I didn't when water with some bits of pigments started gushing out of the bottle. Yikes. Also: sayang.
Without Foundation // With Foundation
The Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua feels incredibly light on the skin. It literally feels like you're not wearing any face base. From the moment I've first put it on, I knew this is the perfect foundation to wear during this summer.
As expected, it has a light coverage, but not buildable. With the name alone, I honestly thought it would be dewy.. I was really surprised when I noticed that it actually has a satin finish. Matte but not flat. It just looks like your skin, but better!
It lasted a good 4-5 hours on me before I notice any fading (sides of my nose) or oiliness (t-zone). Honestly, not bad. But do I think it warrants the $48 price tag? If you have don't need too much coverage or only want to even out your skin tone, then for sure yes. It's going to be so worth your money!
But personally, I'm just so-so about it. I do really, really like it. I mean, from all the positive things I've noted above, what's not to like? And yes, over the years, I have been accustomed to my acne scars and generally just don't care about it anymore.. I don't need a lot of coverage na. But for that much amount of money, I would rather have something that can give me something special.
I feel robbed every time I used this foundation because it just doesn't give me what I hoped it would give me (ie: better coverage, longer lasting power, flawless looking face). It's such a shame because there's nothing that I don't like about this product at all, I just wish it could give me more.
