Filed under makeup I never thought I'd own, the Guerlain Rouge G in Georgia ($51 | Php 2500) was one of the gifts I received on my birthday. Over the years, in an effort to save money, I have already whittled down high-end makeup brands that I will be buying, namely: Burberry (of course) and NARS. I also have brands that I occasionally check out: Chanel, Tom Ford, among some others, but I never really thought about the brand Guerlain because 1.) no product of theirs have really caught my eye and 2.) super expensive.
I'm not familiar with Guerlain cosmetics except for one lipstick: Rouge L'extrait Orgueil which I first saw on Carina's blog. I have badly wanted it, and the only thing that's holding me back (aside from the price lol) is that it's a liquid lipstick.. I can just imagine the mess that I would make while applying the lipstick haha so, nope.
Anyway, okay, let's talk about the Rouge G packaging... Doesn't it have the most ostentatious lipstick bullet ever? Apparently, it's "designed by Lorenz Bäumer, the most talented jeweler from the Place Vendôme in Paris." It's the kind of lipstick that you show off. The packaging is magnetized, and once you pull the packaging open, the folded mirror would automatically flip open. Super fancy. The one downside that I notice, is that the bullet is so heavy. Heavy enough that if I get held up, I could throw this at the person's head, and all will be well..
The color is, again, something that I would have never picked personally. I go for either the nudes or the reds - never the pinks because I buy blindly (aka online), and pinks are so hard to guess if it will suit me or not.. Georgia, however, is a safe pink - the kind of pink that would suit every skin tone. It's muted enough to pair with a smokey eye, and bright enough to just wear on its own.
The formula is surprise surprise, not matte. It sort of reminds me of MAC Cremesheen, actually. It has a sheen to it, but it's not glossy enough to be bothersome. It's pretty pigmented, too. One swipe would give off a bit of color, but two would give you much more intensity color-wise. This lasts on me for a good 3-4 hours without eating (and with drinking). Not bad for something so smooth and creamy.
Have you tried anything from Guerlain? :)
