Revlon + matte lip product? SOLD. But I have a pretty low EQ so I bought this without much thinking. $6.99 + $5 shipping to my US Address + $5.99 shipping from the US to the Philippines = $18! Yeeeeeah... so expensive. But #sorryimnotsorry because I have little patience, and didn't want to wait till it launches here (if ever it will...).
The formula of the Matte Balm reminds me of the now discontinued Revlon Matte lipsticks; though I find the Matte Balm to be a lot more moisturizing. The Revlon Matte lipstick was my favorite out of all the lip products that Revlon has, but it clings on every dry patches of your lips. Some of the shades I find to be quite chalky, too.
The Revlon Matte Balm ($6.99 in Target) is a much improved version of the Matte lipstick. As the name implies, it's a balm/lipstick hybrid and it has a pretty good slip, so the product wouldn't settle on the lines of your lips. I really, really like the formulation of this lipstick because not only is it hydrating (with tingly peppermint effect!), it's also so comfortable on the lips. It feels very lightweight, and you only need to swipe it once to get an opaque coverage.
(L-R): Revlon Teak Rose, Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry, Revlon Fabulous Fig
I thought Sultry was pretty similar to two other Revlon shades that I have but I was wrong. Teak Rose is the closest in color, but Sultry is a tiny bit lighter than Teak Rose; while Fabulous Fig is very, very different from the two.
To be honest, not many of the shades in this line appealed to me, I got the shade Sultry because I find that it's the color that is the least offensive in terms of brightness. Sultry is a nice muted brown red color that I can use on a daily basis.
The longevity of the lipstick is super good; 5 hours before I noticed any fading. This is without eating though. When I had this on while eating lunch (ramen!), I did noticed a little fading on the inside part of my lips, but the rest stayed quite intact.
Have you tried this product yet? :)
