Ultimate Hong Kong Guide (Food + Shopping + Etc)

A couple of weeks before our flight, we booked a standard room (W.Room) in Lodgewood by L'hotel, Mongkok through Asiatravel. They upgraded us to the LW.Corner room which is half a size bigger than our original room. The W.Room has two single beds, but the LW.Corner room has a king bed + a sofa bed ♥ The hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, but they do serve unlimited coffee and pastries at the 1st floor. 3 iMacs are also available for use!

Directions to the hotel: From the airport, take the Airport Express to Tsing Yi station. Take the MTR Red Line, alight at Mongkok station, exit through A2. Turn RIGHT (on our first day, we turned left and we literally traversed Mongkok for 45 minutes before we gave up and hailed a cab. What a waste.) Go straight until you see a playground then turn right again, the hotel will be on your left side.

CENTRAL:

The one restaurant that I wanted to go to was Tim Ho Wan, but unfortunately, the Mongkok branch's already closed soooo we went to its IFC Mall branch. We got there by lunch time (!!!) so the place was SWAMPED. We ate noodles at a nearby Taiwanese restaurant, then went back to Tim Ho Wan after 45 minutes. We ordered: Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (which was AMAZING. BEST THING IN THE WORLD! Get 3 orders.... or 10!), the Steamed Spareribs with Black Bean Sauce, Steamed Pork Dumplings and the Pan-fried Turnip Cake (which was horrendous, Jesus).

After eating, we went up to Pierre Herme (Podium Level 1) so I can buy some Macarons. Price was 210HKD/7 pieces. Not bad, to be honest. I got: Mosaic (pistachio, ceylon cinnamon and morello cherry), Mogador (milk chocolate and passionfruit),  Infiniment Caramel (salted-butter caramel), Infiniment Chocolat Porcelona (pure origin venezuela porcelana dark chocolate), Infiniment Jasmin (jasmine flower and jasmine tea), Arabesque (pistachio and apricot) and the Jardin Dans Les Nuages (chocolate and smoked salt - FAVE!)

MORE RESTAURANTS:

MAK'S NOODLE HOUSE (77 Wellington st. Central Station, Exit D2)

ICHIRAN RAMEN which is open 24 hours (Shop H & I, GF Lockhart House, Block A, 440 Jaffe Road, Causeway Bay MTR Exit)
IKEA (Upper Basement, Parklane Hotel, 310 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay Exit E)
SOGO Department Store (MTR Causeway Bay Station Exit D)
YARDBIRD Yakitori House (Shueng Wan MTR Exit A2)

TSIM SHA TSUI:

IPPUDO Ramen (Shop 201, 2F  Silvercord Mall, 30 Canton Road, TST). We ordered the Shiromaru Motoaji (the first ramen ever sold at Ippudo), the Akamaru Shinaji (Ippudo's latest signature ramen) and the Gyoza Dumplings (which was just okay).

HUI LAU SHAN (Shop C, GF 49 Carnarvon Road, TST) Anthony Bourdain ate (well, drank) here, so of course we had to go here, too! We were still full after eating ramen so we just ordered the Mango Mania (3 samples of their best seller). Pretty f' good!

BUTAO! Ramen (GF, Kam Wing Building, 28 Minden Avenue, TST). Basically, you'll be given a check listso you can build your own Ramen. Butao is their original version, Black King is a squid-based soup, Red King is spicy and the Green King is their East meets West version (with cheese... and stuff) BUTAO KING IS SOOOOOOO GOOD.

My cousin liked Ippudo better, but Butao is my choice, my friend however, likes Ichiran. ;)

MORE RESTAURANTS:

SMILE YOGURT & DESSERT BAR (Shop G15A, K11 Art Mall, 18 Hanoi Road)
PAUL LAFAYET (Shop G23, 18 Hanoi Road)
JENNY BAKERY (Shop 24, GF Mirador Mansion, 54-64 Nathan Road, TST)
LADUREE (Shop 3224, 3F Gateway Arcade, Harbour City)
SWEET HOUSE CHA CHA (CitySuper, 3F Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, TST)

SHOPS:

My favorite mall would have to be Harbour City because everything is already there except... H&M. But you can find H&M at Silvercord which is just right across Harbour City. On the left of Silvercord Mall, is DFS Galleria in Lippo Sun Plaza where you can buy high-end cosmetics/skincare.

Sasa is a popular place to buy cosmetics/skincare but I love Bonjour so much better because they offer really good deals! The Bonjour at Mongkok (the branch right smack in the middle of Ladies Market) is a firm favorite. They sell Bioderma at 118HKD (or Php650!!!), Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler at 98HKD (Php550), Revlon lipsticks at 59HKD, K-palette & Dollywink eyeliner at 92HKD, etc. That place was heaven!

& that's it! ;) Have I missed something?

--------------------

I must have gained 5-10 pounds on this trip, but it was woooorth it. I swear, everything we ate was SO good. I'm quite knackered so I'll post the Macau guide in a few days! :)
