I present to you, books I've yet to finish/read (HOARDER, HOARDERRR):

I bought Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar back in 2010.. a mistake since that year was one of the most miserable times in my life. I've yet to re-open the book.

Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk.... I don't even know why I bought this. Any taker?

I admit, the only reason why I bought Gut Symmetries by Jeanette Winterson was because I saw it being quoted on Tumblr (again, bought this back in 2010) & fell in love with it. "Do you fall in love often? Yes often. With a view, with a book, with a dog, a cat, with numbers, with friends, with complete strangers, with nothing at all.

The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was an impulse buy. I bought it over the internet, and was shocked when I got it because it's sooo thick & heavy (lol no pun intended chos). But duh obviously it's going to be thick - it's the freaking compilation of all the stories of Sherlock Holmes!

A local blogger posted a photo of The Greek Myths by Robert Graves on her Instagram account, and looking at the front cover, I honestly thought it was in comic book form. Sad to say, it isn't. Sighhh.

Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is the MOST DISAPPOINTING Y.A. NOVEL EVER. What a freaking bore. The protagonist just goes on and on and on about shit I don't care for. I still have 3/4s of it to go through... do. not. want. I bought John Green's Let It Snow last Summer - I'm just waiting for the ~right time to read it. Like, come this December.. or when it gets just a little colder.

I was one of those people who used to preorder Harry Potter books months in advance, then devour it the day I finally get it. Then it was announced that JK Rowling will release a new book called The Casual Vacancy.. being the fantard that I am, I bought it. Two pages in, I realized it's too mature for me heh. :P I guess I'll just read Cuckoo's Calling..

Do you hoard books?

  1. I want that GREEK MYTHS and any publisher's version of the Complete Sherlock Holmes.

Same here about the Harry Potter books! I was gifted the whole set, not in one go though. But I clearly remember I read the first 3 books in one day. I practically never slept whenever I read Harry Potter. I read all books twice because they don't bore me at all! :)

I have some books that I shamefully hoarded too, maybe to get me out of the not-reading-novels rut I'm in. I just can't seem to find any book that gets me hooked! Most of my favorites I read more than twice already :)) I just found out I'm pretty hard to please :))

Great books btw. I'm a sucker for good jacket art/covers.

  2. Gosh, The Bell Jar must have been the most depressing novel I'd ever read. Not something to re-visit, esp when you feel down. I also have the complete compilation of Sherlock Holmes on my iPad. It was actually a free download (in fact most classics are in the iBooks store) - your post reminded me to read it! I, too, have got the Casual Vacancy lingering on my book shelf unopened. I read all the Harry Potter books too but somehow I can put this one off...
