I have always wanted to get my hands on Chanel Lip Lacquer in Dragon - but after months and months of pondering, sadly, they discontinued the line. So when Sephora offered a free deluxe sample of the Shiseido Rouge Lacquer in Nocturne (a shade I feel is quite similar to Dragon), I happily dropped it on my online basket.
See how my face has this pink-ish tinge? That's Revlon Whipped Warm Golden's fault.
Shiseido Rouge Lacquer in RD607 Nocturne ($25/full size) is a gorgeous deep red with some very subtle flecks of shimmer. Shiseido Rouge Lacquers are formulated to provide intense color and deep luster - I wish I knew the latter earlier because I hate the feeling of glossy lips. I thought it was going to dry to a matte finish, but no, it feels like a lipgloss more than anything. Although, I did get this for free so why I'm fretting exactly, I have no idea...
I'm so used to traditional lipsticks that I apply directly from the tube so applying the Rouge Lacquer took a some getting used to. It has a flexible doe-foot applicator that made application to the upper lip (cupid's bow area) so much easier. One swipe will give you a very opaque coverage already so you need to be extra careful when applying this to prevent any kind of feathering and/or smearing. It feels very moisturizing, too! Definitely one of the most comfortable lipsticks I've ever put on.
It's beautiful - but it's not for me.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the color very much, it's the formula I'm not fond of. Because it's a "wet" lipstick, I thought it would smear on me as soon as I take eat. And I was right, after taking a bite of a burger, the lipstick transferred to my food. It didn't even leave any hint of stain on my lips - all that's left were the shimmers. :(
