Recently, I have been itching to buy some palettes, but I remembered I bought Stila Merry & Bright Palette ($10) from Sephora during last year's Black Friday so I decided to try it out one day. I rarely wear eyeshadows, mind, but... I tried. I think I did pretty good. ;)
In the above photo, I was wearing Glisten (shimmery pink) on the lids, Butterscotch (matte dark brown) on the crease and Molasses (shimmer dark brown) to deepen the outer edge of my eyes. MAC Espresso on my brows, mascara is Eye of Horus topped with Maybelline Mega Plush. Lipstick is L'oreal Caresse Shine in Milady. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer lightly applied on my cheeks. Pretty simple, no brainer look. I love it.
Speaking of love, I really love this palette. It has everything that I need in a palette! 6 mix of matte and shimmery neutral eyeshadows and 1 fantastic convertible. I'm quite the noob when it comes to eye makeup so it's nice to have just 6 complimentary shades that you can mix and match. While my Sleek Storm palette do the same thing, I think it's a little too shimmery for me now. I honestly think the Merry & Bright is a smaller version of the Stila In The Light palette - just without the golds, blue and black.
The eyeshadows aren't very pigmented and it doesn't last very long, so you need a really good eye primer. (The Tarte eye primer is quite good!) The convertible included in the palette is in the shade of Lilium and I have to say, I am very impressed with it! Lilium is a pretty nude-y pink color with a slightly dewy finish. Ironically though, it looks matte when used on the lips. It has a great pigmentation and a decent staying power. I really really like it, and have been hankering for more of these convertibles.
The palette isn't available in Sephora anymore but you can still buy it at Asos for GBP5 (about $7-8 is it?).
What's your best buy this past few months? :)
