Tom Ford and I may not see eye-to-eye on some things, but I respect the guy a lot. I think he's a great director - in fact, his first film, A Single Man is one of my absolute favorite films (Colin Firth, Jon Kortajarena, hello). And on top of that, he's a fantastic designer, there's no denying that. When he launched his own cosmetic line, I was so sure that it's going to be expensive, and I was right. I just never thought it would be THAT expensive.
Ahh.. but isn't it lovely? Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick in Pink Adobe ($55/70SGD) was not my first shade of choice - it's not even a shade I wanted from the line. I really want Wild Ginger, but the store I bought it from doesn't have it. I tried Spanish Pink, and LOVED it - sadly, I was informed that it, too, was sold out. I brought home Narcotic Rouge, then went back and had it exchange for Pink Adobe. I'm very fickle, what can I say?
Pink Adobe reminds me of Chanel Mademoiselle. They're both pink-based lipstick with a brown undertone. It's a very classic (and safe!) shade, I think, but for someone who's in her early 20s, it ages me quite a bit. Not my favorite, I have to tell you. Now that I thought about it, I should have gone for the blushes instead (just 15SGD more)! Momentary lapse of thinking. The finish isn't overly shiny, but it's definitely not matte - it's creamy but it doesn't slide off. Staying power is pretty good for a light-colored lipstick - a good 5 hours with eating. The shine did fade a little bit, but you can still see the color on my lips.
The lipstick has a very nice Vanilla scent which reminds me of MAC lipsticks. I like it way better than Burberry's. The packaging is very sexy, very suave, very sleek, very much like Tom Ford himself. It's more masculine than any other "luxury lipstick" I've ever had. One thing I don't like about the packaging is how easy it is to see the smudges/prints from your fingers, but that's just a very miniscule fault. Overall, for some who loves her lipstick more than any other beauty product, this one's good for me (I just wish they'd release more mattes, wouldn't that be perfect!). I love Burberry's formula so much better - but because of its matronly smell, it blows, in my opinion.
