When I decided to join my Aunt in the US, I quickly researched on the best liquid foundation out in the market today - on my list was Dior DiorSkin Nude Foundation, Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Fluid Foundation, YSL Teint Radiance & Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. I got to try the Givenchy and the Dior foundations, but unfortunately, their shades were either too light or too dark on me. The YSL Teint Radiance in Honey was my "perfect" shade..... inside the store. When I wore it out the next day, it was too pink! So I returned it.
I stopped by Nordstrom where I got swayed by the SA of NARS. I took home NARS Sheer Matte in Stromboli which was pretty perfect, but after a long day (plus a flight to SF!), I felt that the foundation got a bit too heavy on the face. On my last day in San Francisco, I cheekily dropped by Nordstrom, and impulsively got the Burberry Sheer Foundation. It was looooove at first use! <3
Hello bloated face!
(Yes, my face is full of acne scars on both sides!) Burberry Sheer Foundation ($52), is a gel based foundation that gives an "optimum light diffusion" - in layman's term it looks good on photos! It's also called the "luminous fluid foundation" hence the dewy finish. While you can see the dewiness, in a classic Burberry thinking, they formulated the foundation to make it look as natural on you as possible. It's like my skin but infinitely much better! Also, don't be fooled with the name, because the coverage isn't sheer, I can say that it has a medium coverage using just one layer.
The price is pretty steep - coming at $55 after the outrageously high California tax. But seriously, I wouldn't mind paying for more for it if I have to! The foundation feels pretty light, as in you really cannot feel it on your face once you put it on. That's the first thing that I want in a base makeup. Another factor that I was looking for in a foundation is that it will last for more than half a day, and this does delivers! In SF, where it's cold, I didn't even have to touch up! Here, where it's a lot warmer, I have 5 hours before my face oil up.
Downside? It oxidizes. The SA told me to go one shade lighter because it will darken after a few minutes, and true enough it did! I got the shade Trench 7 which has a neutral undertone but blends seamlessly on my yellow-based skin color.
