I'd apologize for disappearing yet again, but that would be too redundant. I thought I'd just go ahead with the actual blog entry! Say hello to my first ever high end lipstick! ("Hello!") I've wanted this shade for aaages but couldn't really justify the price enough to buy it. Believe me, I've eyed this particular shade at the Nordstrom counter while I was in the US every time I drop by a mall, but alas, I went back to the Philippines empty handed. Until... about an hour back home, when my Mom & I cheekily went by the Duty Free mall, I saw this at the Chanel counter for *drumroll* $29. Uhm, a big YES PLEASE. If I were to trust my memory, I'd say a Chanel lipstick cost $32 (plus LA tax!) so I just HAD to snag this one before I changed my mind.
Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle is one of the most sought after shade from the Rouge Coco line. It is of course, thanks to the beautiful Vanessa Paradis who wore it in the Rouge Coco ad. One of the main reasons why I wanted this shade is because I have a huge girl crush on Ms. Paradis ;) Also because, it looks GORGEOUS on her! The packaging is a slick black metal casing that looks so luxurious that my Wet n Wild & MAC lipsticks are dying of shame. ;) Aside from the Chanel logo on the top of the tube, it has the brand name engraved on the lipstick itself (to haughtily remind you that you're using a Chanel *exclamation point exclamation point* lipstick ... or to shame you for spending too much money on ONE product!) Did you know that it apparently took a hundred prototype tubes before the Chanel people deemed that the "click" after closing the tube of the lipstick is perfect? Ahh, class.
Mademoiselle is a rosy-brown color that is flattering for all skin tone. I have to admit, it does look infinitely better on Vanessa Paradis than on me, but it's a nice shade, still! The formulation of the lipstick is so perfect! It glides on like a dream, has an opaque finish, doesn't dehydrate my lips but isn't too creamy that it slides off easily. It also has a decent staying power considering that it's not a matte lipstick. I'm not too fond of the scent, however.. It has quite a strong rose smell to it that make my head hurt (I have a too sensitive nose, take note). All in all, I think my first foray to high end lipsticks was a success! Will I be buying another Rouge Coco? I'd love to, but taking a peek at my wallet, I think I'll have to save up first! ;)
What's your first high end makeup story? :)
