Lancome Definicils Mascara & CILS Booster XL Mascara Base

Oh darn, I'm sorry for the size of the last photo :(

Because I have short, almost non-existent Asian lashes, my mascara must not only be lengthening, it also must add volume. Lots & lots of it. I received a sample of Lancome Definicils Mascara which is described to give, "lavishly long, perfectly defined lashes, this iconic award-winning mascara provides the ultimate in separation" ...which is true. Used alone, Definicils just separates my lashes. It does nothing else. I do have to say, I really like the brush of this mascara - it's small enough to get into the lashes at the inner corner of my eyes! It also did not clump, smudge or smeared on me. :) All in all though, it just gives me very natural looking lashes, & for $26, I'm not very impressed with it.

This is where the CILS Booster XL Mascara Base enters! It claims to, "give your lashes an XL boost, with just one sweep, this [..] glides on and evenly coats and smoothes your lashes to maximize the results of your favorite Lancôme mascara." Again, so true! Used under the Definicils mascara, it does not only lengthens, it makes my lashes look luscious and thick! Plus, it holds the curls so well! It doesn't give me the "false eye effect" that Maybelline Magnum gives me, but it's close! Prior to this, I have never used a mascara base before, I just found it so unnecessary. If your mascara already gives you the length & the volume that you need, why do you need a base, right? It just didn't occur to me that it a mascara base can make your favorite mascara even better. For $23, I'm willing to splurge on this over & over again!

*I'll snap a better "After" photo tomorrow!

What's your favorite mascara? :)

**Oh, I will go on a short hiatus this week (till next, maybe), but I will still visit and leave comments on your blogs! I'm just going to try & sort a couple of things in my life, but hopefully I'll be back soon!

  1. The idea of a mascara base sounds quite nifty, good to hear that it's been effective :) I haven't tried it out myself though. I have a few favourite mascaras but I rarely stick with one. At the moment I'm quite liking L'Oreal Lash Architect, Maybelline Define-A-Lash and Cat Eyes. But curling eyelashes with a good eyelash curler makes a huge difference too :)

  2. True! I'm still psyching myself to buy the Shu Uemura one! Have you tried the Maybelline Magnun/Falsies mascara? I like them both quite a lot! :)
